For Allies
One of the most important tasks of allies at sex worker public protests is to hide the sex workers who don’t want to be identified amongst them. Of course, if some people are hiding their identities and some people aren’t, one might assume we can know who is who, but it may be that some allies choose to wear masks or wigs too, to confuse journalists, or just for their own privacy reasons. Some sex workers may be comfortable being photographed for press, so obviously not all those in wigs or masks are sex workers. Press can be poor at distinguishing though, so without trying to discourage you from attending, please know that occasionally allies have been portrayed as sex workers during reporting. You should ideally consent to all media portrayals of yourself and do protest if the situation appears otherwise.
